Leona Misses out on a #1

Supposedly X Factor winner, Leona Lewis, lost out on a number one single this weekend because her record company prevented her from releasing a hit.  She performed the song “Run” on X Factor, and it was expected that if it was released as a download-only single, it would have shot to #1.  However, Sony shelved the release.  Some think the reason is to boost the special edition of her album spirit that would feature “Run as a bonus track.

“If that’s the case, the Leona camp will be furious,” a source told the Sun newspaper.
“Given the choice of a single or double number one, I know what they would have preferred.”

That kinda sucks but unless you’re an independent artist your label owns you and your music.
