Vick Pleads Guilty to More Dog Fighting Charges

Michael Vick, former NFL quarterback, plead guilty to a state dog fighting charge on Tuesday.  This could make him eligible to leave prison early.

After Tuesday’s hearing Gerald Poindexter, Surry County commonwealth Attorney, hugged Vick’s mother and said, “At least some of this is over.”

Vick is already serving a 23 month sentence with is set to end July 20, 2009, after which he’ll serve three years of probation.

Maybe because I don’t have any dogs or because I think the life of an animal pales in comparison to the life of a human being but I don’t really feel the punishment fits the crime.  He got more time than most people get for assault and abuse of human beings.  I just feel like they were trying to make an example of him.
